Livable Stamford

Hey Stamford Lovers!

Stamford is an awesome place to live, work, and explore, but we need your help to keep our public spaces in shape!

If you’ve ever wondered about how you could help make Stamford a better place to live or work in, consider volunteering by joining one of the many neighborhood associations in Stamford. On a lighter note, check out Hey Stamford! for the latest on new restaurants and events that are happening around town.

One way to get to know your local neighborhood a bit better is by participating in a neighborhood clean-up day. This is a great way to get out of the office and help make Stamford more awesome. We’re helping by providing all the info you need in one place.

How to Volunteer for Stamford City-Wide Clean-Up Day

Spring 2019 Neighborhood Clean-Up Days:

  • Glenbrook: May 11, 2019, 11am at the Glenbrook Train Station – Crescent Street
  • Springdale: May 11, 2019 (Rain Date: May 18), 9am-11am at Marilyn Trefry Park – Largo Drive

We are kicking off a twice a year (each spring and fall) service day for people just like you to get involved and help make Stamford look spiffy.

In a few weeks, we will start letting everyone know, through our email newsletters, social media, posters/flyers, and our network of neighborhood groups and associations that we need volunteers. You can sign up to participate as individuals, families, or a group of up to 20.

When registration opens, we will publish a map of participating areas so you can search for a site based on neighborhood, the number of volunteers needed, work list, or date. When you register, we’ll ask you to choose two potential sites (in case one is full), and then follow up through email to confirm your site and connect you with the event coordinators. Event coordinators will let you know of any special instructions or changes to the event logistics.

Who Is Doing This?

Many volunteer events are organized by Neighborhood Groups. Neighborhood Groups are community-based groups of neighbors who volunteer their time to host clean-ups and plan events throughout the year. In other words, the vast majority of these events are run by your friends and neighbors! Each participating Group designates an event coordinator to lead their workday, and that leader will be your main contact for any updates, needs, special instructions, etc. Participating in a clean-up is a great way to get involved and support your neighborhood!
